Journey With Deb

Was driving back with my boss from Shah Alam today and we went into this conversation about butterflies. Her eyes absolutely lit up at the sound of that beautiful creature. I found out that not only does she adore them but she has a knick at painting butterflies too. Oil painting on canvas! Wow… then we started talking about hobbies and work. She agrees that working life has restricted her from going full on into her passions and desires. As she continued yakking away.. I feel her reminiscing about life after retirement!
It’s funny how many people I’ve talked to have put their passions and desires aside or on hold until “further notice”. Commitments creep in subtly and priorities pile up one after another, we have to make room for people in our lives… I guess it’s not the issue about whether the passion and desire is shelved but whether they will ever resurface and whether it is strong enough to battle through the thicket of “responsibilities” and survive until the day it’s ready to be taken out again (brighter and prepared to go full bloom). It’s all about timing at the end of the day. I figured we need to do what we need to do when the time calls for it. The laying down (or shelving as it would make it sound less intimidating) of passions and desires for TIMELY moments are a tests of selflessness in every sense.
I hope that my boss will find her passion coming alive in due time. Butterflies…

Btw, I’m really thrilled at the fact that my dad is able to pursue his life long love for photography and now my bro’s caught on to it as well. Dad… you capture moments in my life that words fail to describe:) (you’re just a classic example of someone’s who’s passion has just begun to blossom after it’s finished it’s “seeding” period)
